GezondRijk Nijmegen, the health initiative linked to football club N.E.C., has partnered with Fittar to create a custom wellness app for N.E.C.’s business community.  Announced on 27 October 2025, the collaboration brings together fitness, nutrition and mental‑health resources in a single interactive platform.  The app is being piloted with employees from DFDS and KlokGroep, two of N.E.C.’s key sponsors.

How the App Works

Fittar’s technology underpins the app, while the content is tailored to the needs of N.E.C.’s business members:

  1. Integrated Health Modules: Users can work on physical fitness, nutrition and mental resilience all within one app.

  2. Custom Training from Professionals: N.E.C. physiotherapists and staff designed workouts that suit the audience.  Motion recognition and an AI coach help users perform each exercise correctly.

  3. Gamification Features: The app uses challenges and competitions to motivate participants.  Users can take on colleagues and track progress on leaderboards.

  4. Nutrition Guidance and Mental Health Support: A nutrition module guides healthier meal choices, while the AI coach helps set and achieve personal goals in both fitness and wellbeing.

  5. Pilot with DFDS and KlokGroep: The first users are employees of DFDS and KlokGroep.  DFDS noted that the app is especially valuable for truck drivers, as it allows them to train and focus on mental health even when they don’t have access to a gym.

Goals of the Partnership

The collaboration aligns with GezondRijk Nijmegen’s mission to reduce health disparities in the region.  By partnering with Fittar, they hope to:

  1. Encourage long‑term behavioural change rather than short‑term fixes.

  2. Make health initiatives accessible to a wide range of participants, including those who travel or work irregular hours.

  3. Demonstrate the value of corporate wellness programmes that go beyond basic step counters or one‑off health challenges.

What’s Next

During the pilot phase, feedback from DFDS and KlokGroep will help refine the app.  If successful, N.E.C. plans to roll out the platform to more business partners and potentially to the broader public.  This partnership underscores Fittar’s flexibility in crafting bespoke solutions for organizations that want to invest in the wellbeing of their teams.

By combining Fittar’s cutting‑edge technology with N.E.C.’s community‑driven health initiative, GezondRijk Nijmegen is taking a major step toward a healthier workforce and, ultimately, a healthier region.
